Help us celebrate 250 years of race night fashion
Horse Racing in Canada is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, an important milestone for a great sport on our land. On July 1, 1767, exactly one hundred years prior to confederation, a horse race took place on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City. The event was recorded by the Gazette de Quebec:
“The horse race for the purse of forty dollars was held on Wednesday, first of the month, on the Hill of Abraham. It was easily won by Captain Prescott’s mare Modesty, much to the discomfiture of those who, purporting to know about such things had wagered against here and were thereby parted from their money”
